Heading north out of Coeur d’ Alene, you will be driving through small communities that are rich in local history and still maintain some of the old, west flavor. This highway cuts through richly forested land, with trees thick on both sides and mountains rising up on all sides of you. Your first destination is considered the “Crown Jewel” of Idaho and you will understand why when you arrive. This lake is an unspoiled natural wonderland nestled at the base of the Selkirk Mountains. Your accommodations here will be at a lakefront resort or private cabin. You may choose from any number of activities during your stay here: golfing, boating, fishing, or just relaxing. There are waterfalls and old growth cedar groves to explore as well as miles of hiking trails to pristine lakes and streams. If you wish, we can also arrange for mountain bike or ATV rentals during your stay.

Your next destination is one of Idaho’s largest bodies of water, an area world famous for snow skiing, and its artisan community. Your drive today will be alongside the beautiful Pend O’Reille River and there should be ample opportunities to observe eagles, osprey, herons, and other waterfowl. Your luxurious accommodations will again be lakefront, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. This is a walking town, and you will find wonderful shops and original art everywhere. There are several unique restaurants for you to try while you are exploring. During your stay here, you will want to include a visit to Schweitzer and ride to the top of the mountain by quad-chair. We can also arrange for you to visit several artist studios for a private showing. The miles of unspoiled shoreline surrounding this lake are famous for its wildlife viewing, especially the mountain goats which literally cling to the rock cliffs.
