North Cascades Adventure for the Active Explorer!

Join us for an outdoor adventure following the Cascade Highway high into the Cascade Mountains and ending at the beautiful Pacific Ocean. You will enjoy mountain biking and hiking into secluded wilderness areas, as well as sampling local cuisine and wines at unique lodges and hotels along the way. Highlights of this trip include:

Day 1:
Depart with map in hand from Spokane or Coeur d’ Alene and drive 3 hours to your first destination, arriving in time for you to explore this quaint village. Known for its European flavor, you’ll want time for exploration and shopping here. The views from our mountain lodge or lake front cabins are equally spectacular - both with 40 miles of trails just outside the front door. This evening you will enjoy a hosted dinner with fine local wines prepared for you by a gourmet chef (weather permitting it can also be enjoyed on a mountain top!)

Day 2:
Today you may choose to join the park expert for an invigorating mountain bike ride to take in the spectacular scenery in the bordering National Forest. You can also enjoy lunch in the village before traveling to your next destination. After a 2 ½ hour scenic drive, you will arrive at either a luxurious lodge or quaint homestyle, family inn to call home for the next two days. Both are set in awe-inspiring locations on the edge of the North Cascades National Park. Tonight, you will enjoy a private dinner here showcasing the lodge’s fabulous wine cellar or enjoy the kitchen of a family in town.

Day 3:
Today will be full of exploring the back roads in a bordering valley on mountain bike. Famous for its beauty and encased by two sparkling rivers, with map in hand, you will ride down the mountain to breakfast and spend the morning taking in the gorgeous scenery. This afternoon and evening will be free for you to sample the amenities of the lodge or inn or to enjoy the nearby frontier town for a taste of the old west.

Day 4:
Today, the journey continues as you go high into the Cascade Mountains to the northernmost trailhead for a morning of hiking in the sub-alpine terrain. The views from this altitude will be unmatched! After traversing a high mountain pass, you will reach your lodging for tonight. This inn originally served as a meeting place in the 1800’s for gold miners and pack mule train drivers heading up the river. The hosts will invite you to “dine on the wild side” in their restaurant which specializes in exotic game meats such as buffalo, venison, elk, and ostrich.

Day 5:
Off this morning for a mountain bike ride along a tumbling creek and then a short hike to a glistening mountain lake for a picnic lunch. There will be points of historical interest all along the route as this area is famous for logging, both in the past and present. This afternoon you will head out to your final destination, the Emerald City and our luxurious accommodations at waters edge, overnight in a real house boat from Sleeping in Seattle or an up market, modern hotel. Tonight, dinner reservations are planned at an amazing restaurant where you will dine on cuisine crafted from fresh organic ingredients while overlooking the bay and the Olympic Mountains.

Day 6:
You may choose to take some time to explore the colorful waterfront of this vibrant city before taking the shuttle to the airport for your return flight home.

Priced from $1,699 per person.
